Simplifying the Load

Galatians 6:3-5 - 3If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5for each one should carry his own load.

I've been on a mission to simplify my life. Moving a lot tends to tax you beyond what you think you are able to bear. I have been known to think I'd rather die than move again... but I'm still here (and I say this after my husband and I just completed our 20th move together). Trying to sort and settle your belongings, schedule, and lifestyle becomes a necessity if you move around as much as we have. We are constantly ditching what doesn't work to make room for what will.

Now that we are settled in our apartment, we are coming up on our lease expiration and the prospect of another move. With this tunnel vision and the desire to cram in everything I have not gotten done on my school-year goals list before the summer break.... I have been really stressing myself out. We all know stress is a killer. Maybe that was why my neck and shoulders flared up so bad in the past weeks.

I have been doing what I need to simplify lately and my body has felt so much better. I think that some of this need to de-clutter (not only my apartment, but my schedule, my desk, and my life) comes from the seasons changing. Spring cleaning is good for the soul. So as I work on Spring Cleaning and simplifying my life today... I thought I would share this wonderful essay (geared towards homeschooling moms) that I'm busy printing to hang in my school room. May the Lord make our path straight and keep our priorities in tact... and may we all benefit from the same wisdom that ordered the universe and set our seasons and planet in motion.

What timely advice!!

I can't tell you how much I have been simplifying, refocusing, just in general taking my life back (If you've glanced at my blog lately you'll see the change in my posting).

As silly as it sounds, just allowing myself NOT to post the popular post has really lightened my load. Instead I am changing my focus and enjoying my days much more.

Can you just renew your lease?
