This contest sounds like a real treat... especially if you love the home-made taste of Blue Bell Ice Cream from Brenham, Texas. [The cows think Brenham is heaven.] If you happen to be anywhere in the Blue Bell territory (shown in the map above), you are qualified to enter the contest and design your own local flavor for Blue Bell. This would be a great group activity for homeschooling moms who enjoy teaching culinary and home-making skills to the kids. [My son has already thought up a great new flavor (I'm not telling!).]
In honor of the company’s 100th anniversary, Blue Bell Creameries kicked off a "Taste of the Country" flavor contest on January 1, 2007. The deadline for entry is not until April (postmarked by April 30th), so hurry and get your thinking caps on! They are asking customers to submit names of ice-cream flavors suggestive of their own state and local dessert traditions. This is one delicious contest that you don't want your homeschool kids to miss! There will be 17 State winners and a Grand Prize winner! The winners will get a year's supply of ICE-CREAM... and the grand prize winner will enjoy a trip to Brenham for a factory tour... AND get to see their own flavor masterpiece packaged and sold by Blue Bell for a year! [Yipee! I want to go to Texas!]

Now that's just mean! ;-) We don't have Blue Bell ice cream here!
Followed your comments on Greg L.'s blog. Way to go, I SO appreciate you engaging in that culture war.

No Blue Bell ice cream here, I'm so sad.
I never realized what I had when I had it, just now that I'm gone.
Sorry Anne and MBR. ;) I can't help it that we have the best ice-cream in the country down here! Why don't you two pack up and head South!?
Jennifer... Thank you for taking the time to comment. I get myself really worked up over those types of people who are just out to jerk other people's chains. Mean people suck, don't they? I thought about just not posting over there, but I hated to leave it without a little light in the darkness. I appreciate your comments because I usually only get flamers (see Corey's lovely response in my Wednesday Thoughts post from today) afterwards. It is nice to know I'm not the only person out there who is trying to speak up.
Sounds like a fun contest!
thanks! I'm going to check out the details.
