Teacher In-Service Day

pile

Ever feel like you have a pile on your desk that threatens to consume you? Well, I do TODAY. The whole family is going to suffer if I can't dig out from under here. It isn't just Homeschool Blog Award work to get done... it is a five-mile long list of other things that I have been neglecting during the awards and illnesses which have floated our way lately. I'm not just the mom, wife, cook, secretary, teacher, maid, and blogger around here. I'm also the family's Chief Financial Officer and today is payday. I can't put off the accounting another day.

So what does a Teacher-In-Service day look like around here?
Here are a few things my kids have planned for today while Mom gets sucked into her whirling vortex of paperwork and to-do items:
  • Read a ton of library books (we plan to take them back to the library today)
  • Help me grade some papers
  • Finish up leftover school-work from yesterday
  • Finish reading "The Princess and the Goblin"
  • Help me organize and declutter the school shelves
  • Work on crafts that need to be finished
  • Make birthday cards for family and friends
  • Play educational computer games
  • Do chores
  • Paint or draw
  • Help with cooking (maybe make some cookies!)
  • Watch some movies about our current school unit (ships and floating)
  • Go to the library with me and over to a friend's house
  • Goof off and play outside

I won't bore you with my long list. I probably won't be back in here Saturday or Sunday, though. Tomorrow is a regular school day for me and I'm also going to try and get the prize information up on the HSBA website by myself since Heather is unable to help.

Don't forget to vote today! You have until "the stroke of midnight".

Gracious, to accomplish those "few things" in a day is awe-inspiring, in my opinion!

Heather, thanks for all your hard work on the awards. I know what a time suck this stuff can be!

About that "stroke of midnight"--is that Eastern time? Pacific? Just curious. :)

Just in case anyone sees this... PACIFIC TIME.

Also, I sure appreciate your comments. It is nice to hear something positive on the web after hearing negative things. It balances all the muck out. Thanks ladies!

God bless you both.

Hey Heather, you shameless girl you-LOL! I voted! However I could not vote for you for the best blog design, 2 of the blogs that were nominated I designed and made custom graphics for. Our Homeschool and Other Such Happenings and A Familiar Path. You are beating both of them though-grrr... Just kidding.

BTW, I haven't logged in ages, but I thought I'd let you know I'm having a contest, one thing- you'd have to login to HSB to enter.

Well good luck on the blog awards sweetie.

God Bless,
Amber

Hi Heather! I'd throw you a life line but I can't find it under my pile of stuff. What about a blow up float ring?

Jennifer - well, we drug our list out for three days intead of one! Just so you know, we completed the following:

Read library books (not a ton!)
Take some back to the library
Finished some of prev. days school
Read lots of Princess & Goblin
Play NON-educational PC games
Do chores
To friend's house to play
Goof off
Church
___________
We still have these things to do:

Help me grade some papers
More schoolwork to finish
Finish Princess & Goblin
Organize and declutter shelves
Do lapbook (this will take days)
B-day cards for family and friends
Play educational computer games
Paint or draw
Make cookies!
Watch boat movies (Netflix)
Play outside

So you see... my lists are a guide, not always EXACT. I usually post them as I make them, not AFTER I finish them. They would be a lot shorter if I had to get them checked off first! LOL

Melissa - :) Sorry I didn't specify the time zone ahead of time!

Hey Amber. Long time no see! I went to your site, but didn't see your contest. Can you throw me a link?

Sagerats - Hey Tia-mia! You and me both. Hope you can find the daylight. That's what I'm praying as I pick-axe my way through this pile of dirt and rock! ;) Trying to enjoy the journey - even though it is busy!

Hi, I just want you to know that we are praying for you. You are doing so very much right now and it is not unnoticed. If there was a blog award for The "coming through in a pinch" blogger, it would be YOURS.
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
