Being Thankful: Making a Honey List

kev-peachy_cr

"Life is a flower of which love is the honey." ~ Victor Hugo

I've been making a different kind of list this weekend. Not a honey-do list, but just a "Honey List". My man has been caught doing good. I thought I would take a moment to write down some reasons why he is so amazingly wonderful. Even after 15 years.

- He took me to Godiva chocolate store and got me a box of dark chocolate this weekend.
We were passing the mall on a drive Saturday and he said, "You want to go in to the Godiva store and see if they have a sale going on?" I speak chocolate (most women do)... so this is certainly a way to communicate his feelings for me... don't you think?

- He bought me mascara at Clinique.
He remembered that I was out of it after hearing me mention it.

- He brought home a tiny bottle of my cologne from Wal-Mart when he went to change the oil in my vehicle.
So that's TWO things in one... and the neat thing was that my cologne is hard to find - Michael Kors - and Wal-Mart just happened to have a 17$ bottle of it in their holiday section... who knew?? It's nice to know your man is thinking of you - even when he's at the auto shop.

- He ironed his own shirts for work this week.
I love to watch him iron. My grandma used to iron at night while we all snuggled up on her bed to talk ...and something about the sound of the steam is comforting.

- He changed the cat-litter.
You can't get more sacrificial than that.

- He fixed the vacuum.
saucesNot only did he fix it, but he ordered a part online and after getting it in, fixed the vacuum and vacuumed the entire house by himself for me - even the stairs!

- He took me to Chipotle for dinner yesterday.
Chipotle is my addiction. He scored big-time points with this one.

- He got me a bottle of Jalapeño Tabasco Sauce.
OK, maybe I have more than one addiction. Hot sauce. Mmmmm.

- He told me not to give away all the baby stuff just yet.
Sweet words. He is a great dad... however, I wonder if he really knows how old I'm getting? Love may be blind in this case.

- He called me Friday from work to tell me "I just wanted to tell you how much I love you."
Awwwww.
So what has your man been caught doing lately? Hopefully he's been doing good. A friend of mine told me that her hubby takes her to Starbucks every Saturday morning as a treat. Do you have some stories about how the love of your life has blessed you this week? If you don't tell me, tell HIM. Let him know how much you appreciate the little things he does. Add some spice to your life.

I'm on my way down-stairs to make some Italian food for my sweetheart for supper. Maybe he can start making a list about what I've done for him this week. Don't hold your breath, he's not the writing type. But that's OK, because opposites attract. Hope your week is full of honey.

I love hot sauce, too!

And my husband did the dishes the other night. Not a regular occurrence, but much appreciated!

Funny you should bring this up, but I wrote in my gratitude journal Saturday, I was thankful for a husband who dusts. He dusted the living room, and moved all the furniture around to vacuum without me asking. Not a day goes by where I don't thank God for my husband. I'm very blessed. Mine is sweet as sugar and always does thoughtful things for me.

Thank you for reminding me to thank him again today. I'm going to make a honey list too. It helps to stay focused on the sweet and good.

Heather, the best romance points I ever scored were matching pumps.

I bought my wife a little olive a-line dress years back. Believe me it was more for my own scenery than anything else.

Well I figured I should get her some shoes to go with it. I found some at a store in the mall but they did not have her size. So I had to drive over to the neighboring town to get them from that location.

It was all worth the trouble. It has been 14 years since that day. She still tells her friends about it.

I just wanted to see her dressed up. But man alive, did back into something good.

He is sweet!!!
I should probably make a Professor list, too. It's always nice to make such a list so you can refer to it when they irritate you. (Or maybe it's just me. *LOL*)

I loved your comment. I do wish they could stay young...but I've discovered that I just want them to stay innocent. It breaks my heart to think that the world will break theirs one day all too soon.
I get all sniffly just thinking about it.

Thank you for visiting me. It's always nice to see you - especially knowing that you're so busy. :-) Bleach free blessings!!

Jalapeno Tabasco is my favorite too! Mike keeps threatening to buy me one of those gallon jugs of it.

How sweet! My honey does sweet things for me also. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment about my family problems. Sometimes you just want to shake people into listening but when it comes to Jesus many people are not willing to listen.

Eric - Thanks for the award. :) I put your button on my white sidebar. Is that a meme that I should be giving out, too? Or just an award that you give?

Sara - Your man is great. He helps you a lot. Any time is a great time to go kiss on him. :)

Carrie - My kids told my husband the last time he did dishes, "Now you know how we feel"... as if he had never done them before! Ha! Last night (because I'm sick and cooked dinner anyway), he did help some with dishes. Dishes aren't his strong point, though.

allyjo - A gratitude journal sounds like a great idea. The closest I come to that is my regular prayer journal, but many times it is full of requests and not enough gratitude. :)

BWH - My husband has bought me clothing items before too. Right now, though, it isn't a great idea seeing as how our budget got sliced up a bit with this move out of state, new insurance premiums for health, and the fact that we now pay A TON more for gas (we were 4 miles from work in AR, here he is 37 miles - one way). Dishes, vacuuming and other less expensive items are going to have to do! I'm praying that he'll get some bonuses and a raise before long...

ComfyDenim - Yes, would be nice to keep them innocent. It is going to be hard sending them off and letting go. :)

Sheri - Jalapeno Tabasco. Mmmmm. I know what you mean. The other day at Chipotle, I probably poured half of one of the little bottles on my tacos. :)

Dreama - Hope you and your family are able to one day mend the gap. It takes time. One of my family members and I are still not close from those types of issues. But I'm still hoping.
