My Homeschool Lunch, #4

popcornlunch

I do this. From time to time I just NEED to take a picture of our meals. Don't ask me why. My kids and husband ask enough for all of you, believe me. I like to see what people are eating. I know I'm not the only one. How do I know? Every now and then, when I have time to really look through my blog stats, I come across searches for "homeschool lunch". You can laugh, but I know there are other moms out there who are looking for lunch ideas.

Not that my lunch ideas would be something you would want to try. I mean, especially THIS particular lunch. Popcorn shrimp, frozen baby sweet peas (heated, of course), Chicken-flavored Rice-a-Roni, and Simply Apple juice. Not your organic health-nut approved menu combo, to be sure. But at least it wasn't "chicken rings" and those gross Veggie-all canned mixed mushy things that they served my kids in private school... when my son wasn't raising his hand to opt out of the hot lunch for a white-bread peanut-butter and jelly sandwich, a Cisco chocolate chip cookie, and greasy Lays chips. Ick. I'd take the popcorn shrimp over that any day. I can admit that I sometimes eat out of cans and boxes.

So this is what a FAST food lunch looks like at home - when mom doesn't have time to cook in between Math and Typing. Not so shabby. Definitely edible. And if you eat all your peas, there's organic Sorbet, cut strawberries, or whole wheat fig newtons for dessert.

What's on your homeschool lunch table? Wanna share? I'm finally going to get a linky for this ancient meme of mine. I hope you'll join in and give me some new foodie ideas.

Oh, you put me to shame. Usually we just have a sandwich..pb&j, tuna, or turkey and cheese. Today it was Kraft Mac & Cheese. That's it. Nothing with it. Sometimes we have leftovers. Sometimes we have fast food. I know. I'm sad.

Oh, and sometimes we don't eat until after 2pm...even 2:30pm. TimeChimes is helping with that though.

I'm finally planning dinner menus once again and now I see that there are others even more ahead of me who are preplanning lunches. Here at my house it is more like every man for himself. I make sure that there is peanut butter, jelly/jam, lunch meat, cheese, bread and whatever the people in the house like for lunch. I just don't plan what we'll eat each day or really do much else to make it for any one other than me. :)

I rarely cook for lunch (but usually do for breakfast and dinner.) Today we're having tuna salad sandwichs with fresh oranges and peaches on the side. Yummy.

I'm not laughing. I'm probably one of the moms who showed up on your blog stats. ;-)

I posted my most recent whining about being in a lunch rut, though I confess that things have gotten better since that post, which was a few weeks ago.

If you make this meme a regular habit, I'll try to post some pictures of our less pitiful lunches. ;-)

Today the kids are having pizza and I'm having a quite tasty BBQ sandwich. I usually eat the pizza, but since my niece has started homeschooling with us, two pizzas aren't enough and three leaves too much wasted. So, I "sacrificed" for the yummy sandwihc.

Hi H., I don't blog but I love reading yours. Today, J had some
spagetti (no sauce, just butter and
cheese) and dh and I had a bowl of
cereal. I know, we're sad! I do a
better breakfast and supper but lunch tends to get weird somehow.
Love, Susie
P.S. Hope you are feeling great!

And I thought I was the only one who liked taking pictures of food :-} Somedays we have really good lunches that we cook from scratch, then other days we have leftovers, or some kind of junk like hot dogs (yesterday) or call Domino's for delivery. (no where else delivers where we live)

Hey, I'm coming to eat lunch at your house from now on! LOL! YUMMMMM!

We typically have sandwiches or leftovers for lunch...nothing worthy of photography!

My daughter thought this looked fabulous. Today we had ramen noodles, onion fried with bologne, and fresh greens from the garden. Daughter almost had me take a photo to post on my blog. I couldn't quite bring myself to. I'm not much of a photographer. You made it look so lovely!

Hmm, yeah not too much exciting in the lunch department for us yesterday. We went to Q'doba for lunch with Daddy since he wasn't going to get home 'til bedtime. But I have been blogging our lunches that we take to co-op each week at my other blog, http://weeklybento.blogspot.com Our usual weekday lunches are much less exciting. Usually leftovers, or sandwiches, soups, fruit, and almost always a yogurt. I like to offer at least three different food groups, but then there are days like today where it is pb&j (that's three food groups in one, right?) :)
