Busy Carschool Tuesday... and Baby News

So maybe I'm hiding a bit. Can't help it. This week is trucking along at light speed and I'm just trying to hang on. Tuesdays are hard anyway - with our all-day out schedule. Add an evening of Vacation Bible School to that and you'll be seeing double, your house will look like a tornado came through, and you'll most likely be burping up fast food.

We left at 8am this morning and called in our breakfast taco order while on the road (I loved it that the clerk asked if it was for "Heather" without me saying who I was). After a quick bite, we all rushed to my early doctor appointment where Daddy met us for a front row seat at gummy-bear's 15 week ultrasound. It was a Kodak moment.

The kids were thrilled to see the baby moving and listened to every word the doctor said. They were especially excited that we were able to get a clear picture of the baby's southern end. Even inside a womb, folks; there is NO privacy. Doc says she is nearly 99% sure that gummy-bear is a boy! Even though my anatomy check sonogram is still 5 weeks away! We all were kind of expecting that the baby was a girl by the signs of the pregnancy. After the initial shock of the news faded, we rejoiced together as a family over the prospect of a healthy baby boy. I'll admit that I lamented a bit about returning all those boxes full of GIRL baby clothes in my garage donated by a good friend. We even made a few partial guesses at who he looked like... if you can see the face in the image below:

Amazingly, we all agreed on a name for the baby (which is a miracle in itself after arguing non-stop for months about the girl names we each had picked out). Kaden (who has been hands-off since we first told the kids about their new sibling) came out of his silent-mode to offer up a middle name for his wee little brother. We loved his contribution. Now the name is checked off. I'm sure God will provide the clothing and diapers later. And if we run in to a bind, he'll just have to learn to like the color pink! "Real men wear pink" may have to become the new Bee family mantra.

After the doctor appointment, we went to choir and the kids ate Twinkies for snack time. I can't lie - I had one, too. Suddenly I remembered why it has been nearly 5-10 years since I had the last one. We weren't hungry for lunch, so we snacked on beef jerky and Pringle's. Today wasn't about getting a gold star for eating well, that is for sure.

We managed to fit in some school work at the church building after we went to Morgan's Keepers class. She worked on earning her calligraphy badge there while her brother helped babysit the younger kids. I snacked with the kids on some MSG-cheese-covered party mix and shared the photos of the baby with co-op friends. Daddy bought us Chick-Fil-A and met us at church afterwards. Morgan got to be in her VBS play and we didn't get home until 9PM!

So you see, I'm not hiding from you all intentionally. Life is just getting in the way of blogging for the moment. I suspect more of the same will happen this week since we have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning, house cleaning to do, co-op this Friday, catch up work for school, and packing for this weekend's boy's camping trip. I'm looking forward to vegging out with my daughter Friday evening - taking pictures and watching a chick-flick while we paint our toenails (suggestions for a good movie for moms and daughters are welcome).

I hope your Tuesday was less busy than mine... and that you are enjoying life even if it comes at you fast. These parenting years are fleeting. I thought about this new little life we are expecting and hugged Morgan tight tonight while we sat together on the couch. It was only a short 9 years ago that she was a tiny, bald helpless bundle. Kids really do grow up before you can blink. I'm trying most of all to not loose sight of that fact as we rush through our busy days ahead. Trying to fill them with smiles and laughter.

Lord, help me make the most of your gifts - and help me to see the "power of a moment".

I am so happy for you guys! I wish I had some baby boy clothes to pass on, but I think we gave all of them away already. I'm sure that the little "gummy-bear" will not go unclothed, though! :)

Tell Morgan that Mal will be writing her soon. She wants to sympathize w/her about having two brothers. LOL.

Congratulations on your baby boy! Boys are so wonderful - never a quiet moment:-)
I certainly agree that the parenting years are fleeting. My oldest children are twins and they just turned '21' !! I can't believe it! Seems like only yesterday...
My youngest just turned '6'. We are enjoying starting our Konos years all over again. Time does seem to pass faster and faster though - enjoy every moment!
Blessings to you and your family,
Jan in Va.

Oh Boy! I had a list of boy names and only had one. Girl names were difficult. Congratulations again.

Oh Heather, he is so handsome (because, yes, I can see that itty bitty face in the sono picture). Sigh. I am still so very excited for you! Hugs, girl!
