A is for Apple

apples2

I couldn't think of a single thing this week that started with A to photograph for our 'A B See Meme'. How lame is that? The only thing that came to mind was apples. I actually took this photo back in August when my daughter was learning to use the camera. We were practicing Macros. I don't even much like apples... but I eat them because I know they are good for me. In fact, I think we have one in the fridge that I'm planning on eating today. I don't mind them with peanutbutter to dip the peeled slices in. And no, I don't like apple pie, either. My husband calls me 'unAmerican'. Oh, well - at least I'm a Texan. I'd much prefer Tex-Mex to apple pie any 'ol day.

My husband, on the other hand, is an apple fiend. He eats apples nearly every day. He doesn't mind the skin on them, either. I can remember when my healthy child wanted an apple and I told her she could have one as long as Mama didn't have to cut it up. I'm not always that lazy, but that particular day, I was dog tired. A few minutes later, she brought me a stem. I asked her where the rest of the apple was and she said, "I ated it".

She ate the entire thing. Seeds, core, skin, and all. Just a little stem left. That's my husband and my daughter for you. I swear they are part rabbit.

Me and the unhealthy boy - we prefer our chocolate, milk/cream/cheese, bread, meat, rice, and taters. In that order.

Thankyouverymuch.

I eat my apples with Nutella because, hello, chocolate. I never cut or peeled my kids' apples. The peeling is good for them. Also, why in the world would I need to slice them? They were made to eat right off the tree. Not lazy, just practical, my friend.

My son did the exact same thing when he was a toddler. My mom gave him an apple and he returned with the stem. I said, Where is the rest? and, same answer-- I ate it! It was so funny.

We are playing too...but thought were suppose to post on Friday?

My son thinks you "cheated" posting apples and one you took a while ago! LOL! KIDS! They worked HARD on finding their A's...and on a rainy WEEK when they couldn't go outside! LOL!

I almost took a picture of my aunt's artificial apple arrangement on her table today for an "A" picture. :-)

Your picture has such rich color. Very nice.

No apple pie for you? I don't think I've ever heard of someone who didn't like apple pie before. Please don't tell me you could live without ice cream, too? :)

Gorgeous phot. That's why I'm not going in order.. too much pressure. I want this project to also document our "daily" lives- so i figured I'll snap every day moments and fit them to a letter. Like this week I did R- reading.

Great, Karen! Cute photos of your son.

Sandy - Nutella... what a great idea! Practical. I'll keep telling myself that. The peel, though, is covered with wax and chemicals... which may cause cancer. I heard of a guy who ate an apple every day and swears that he got cancer because of the wax they put on his apples. I know, I know - eventually anything will kill you.

Tracy - You can post any day. Sorry for cheating. :) LOL I think B will be easier. I guess I could have gotten the dictionary down and browsed for something more interesting.

Dawn - those apple dipping kids are the cutest.

Dacia - Great minds! :)

BChsMamaof3 - Love the stem thing. I miss her pudgy 4 year old cheeks back in those days.

Barb - Thanks!

Elisabeth - Actually, I really am not much for ice cream, either. I do have it rarely, though. The best kind is good Gelato from Italy. We get the imported stuff and healthy raspberry sorbet pops from our local grocery store.

Gina - R for reading! Great! That's neat. You are actually making a 'school at home' alphabet. How cool! I love to hear about people's creative ideas.

Apples, yum! Those look so crisp and sweet! I'll only eat gala apples...the sweetest. Hmmm, I wonder if one could incorporate apples into tex-mex? I'll leave that up to you to come up with a daring recipe, Heather! Beautiful photo!

My daughter absolutely loves apples.

This is a great macro! It is hard to photograph food and you did a really nice job with these. I enjoy apples, but I can't digest them well so I don't eat them much either. Maybe that's why I see so many doctors?!!!

Happy WW!
