Welcome to 5th and 4th Grade

God didn't promise life without pain, laughter without sorrow,
sun without rain. But He did promise strength for the day,
comfort for tears, and light for the way. ~ Unknown

We took our "first" day of school pictures in the pool this morning. It was actually our second day of school that was supposed to be our third day of school. It was nice to have the whole place to ourselves (one of the many benefits of homeschooling). Chickie (their grandma) and I sat on the sidelines while the kids had "PE" for an hour in the morning sunlight. It was good for me to get out of the house.

I had quite an emotional day. Hormones make grief a little harder to process. I found the "diamond ring" picture on my scanner when I went to make a copy. That was hard. I wrote the baby's name on it and put it in the photo keepsake box that I have been using to collect all our stray photos from the move. I got a few phone calls from friends and family checking on me. Kev brought me home chocolate from Godiva and our friends from church made us dinner and brought it over. I only had a few breakdowns; managed to stay sane enough to get all my paperwork sorted and some school work done.

I wanted to thank so many of you for sharing your stories with me and offering your prayers on my family's behalf. We are very thankful for your kindness. I really appreciate everyone's comments. We're on the road to recovery and hope to be in full swing with our school year soon. I'm blessed with two great kids to teach and the best job in the world. It will be wonderful to focus on the fun of learning and let the healing happen as we go.

I love the pool pix! Those are fun. Maybe we'll be to have P.E. at the pool this week. :D

I know it's hard right now!! I'm glad at least that you have some supportive friends and family, and folks at your church who are standing by you.

Actually, in some ways it's kind of worse in a couple months when people want you to "be over it" and you're not. I know part of me is still grieving for the child I lost almost *10* years ago, but it is not as intense and bitter, you know?

Just thought I'd say hi. I found your blog by clicking on a "friend" of a "friend's" blog...

Thanks everyone. :) Yes, it is still hard. I have really good moments and really bad ones. I did too much yesterday and ended up having to take pain medicine again and lay on my heating pad. I guess this isn't over yet.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I pray God ministers comfort to your hearts....
Just want to add, your kids are VERY blessed to have you as a mom and homeschool teacher. They look so happy- and I love your statement about having fun learning.
Thanks for an interesting and informative blog; God bless!
