We've been discussing the economy and the credit/housing bubble. I have to admit, after years of going virtually credit-card-free (paying with cash or check card only), I broke down last April and got myself a camera. It was right after my son won the regional Robo-championship and we were off to nationals across the USA. Daddy took me to Best Buy and we signed our life away on a nice digital Cannon. I love my camera (but I hate the payment). Thankfully I don't have a lot of credit card debt - but we have our share of school loans, govt. loans (disaster loan from FEMA), and of course the mortgage and car notes. We stopped using credit cards for the most part way back in our last 16 years together. We just haven't been able to shake all of our debt yet.
My mega-zillion photos from last April through today make me feel better about that Best Buy payment each month. Photo memories can't be replaced and will always be treasured. I hope I can pay off the camera quickly, though. Lately I have been considering doing some photography for money on the side. A lovely friend at my retreat last week told me that I wouldn't have a hard time starting my own business. I thought about offering to take pictures for homeschoolers - annual class photos for the school year - but homeschoolers are usually not the type that have money to spare for luxuries. I am too afraid to do a wedding (until I get some more experience under my belt).
Whatever ensues with my camera ideas, at least I have the option to continue making beautiful memories for our family. Here below are a few from April through September of 2008 (my "Summer Essay in Photos" for the HSBA Post's meme):

It's nice to meet you, Sprittibee! I've been reading your blog for a long time now, and love it... now I find out we're Swap Sisters! You are a great photographer and it's neat that we have photography in common. I have a Nikon digital SLR camera and I LOVE IT! Thanks for the info about picasa...
