Queen of Burgers

fastfoodqueen

We're back from our trip to Houston. Thanks for providing me with a weekend free of blogging. Aside from a few comments and emails, I stayed totally away from the computer for nearly 3 days! My political bomb post was set to appear magically on Saturday; so for once, I actually had my entire weekend free. Planning ahead - who would have thought?! Sadly, I had to spend some of this holiday weekend attending a funeral and in the ER getting ANOTHER catheter. Something is really wrong with my body - maybe it is just age? I hear it happens to the best of us. Pregnancy seems to be for people in their 20's... and learning "What to Expect When I'm Expecting" all over again is freaking me out.

So we're back at home - no more eating out for us this week. Doc says I can't have any more caffeine. That means fast food is definitely out. How do you eat pizza or McDonald's without Coke? Fries and water? Gross. I could kick myself for not bringing home the leftovers from Yai Yai Mary's. Baklava, Chicken Souvlaki and heavenly Greek rice pilaf. How dumb was that?! Their pistachio ice cream is divine. And I know who makes it (but I'm not telling). They serve it in a sugar-sprinkled bowl made of baklava pastry crust, top it with with a handful of fresh chopped pistachios and drizzle it with gooey honey. Mmmmm.

Anyway, I hope you'll join me as we get ourselves in gear for the second week of our school year! What a busy schedule we have ahead of us in the next 5-7 days! A hundred things to do and places to go tomorrow... (which is already today at 12:39 AM)... I had better get in bed!

Wow! That little Bee must be putting some pressure on something. I'm sorry you had to get another cath!

Awww. Catheters are only acceptable when you have an epidural beforehand. LOL

I'm no doctor, but I AM susceptible to UTIs. Especially when I was pregnant. Turned out it was b/c I was Group B Strep positive. Just sayin' :)

So far as I know, the possible causes could be #1 damage from previous babies (this one will be the 3rd to deliver and the strain of pregnancy on a bladder is well documented), #2 tilted uterus (can press against bladder or urethra and cause blockage) - I know my uterus is tilted, so this is highly plausible, and #3 hormones (pregnancy relaxes muscles in your body to allow for growth - if it relaxes you too much, you can have blockages and inability to contract certain muscles that normally wouldn't give you a hassle).

I know for sure that there was not an infection either time. I'm not sure what Strep B is, but I am not sure it would cause a urinary blockage. Caths are no fun, but when your bladder has a 5 ton elephant in it, it is not nearly as painful as the pressure of needing to pee.

They actually gave me a catheter to take home (like I could figure out how to do it myself). I guess if I'm hurting enough, it beats spending another $100 co-pay at the ER. Hopefully I won't need it. I'm going to talk to my doc about sending me to a urologist first, though. I need to call and find out about my next appointment.

Hello! I just found your blog through a search engine and am so glad I did! I'm a former homeschooling mom as my kiddos went back to public school this year. I see that you're a part of Heart of the Matter in which my BFF Lori contributes to regularly. I look forward to browsing around your blog more. Thanks for sharing!

Have a great day!

Aw man, sorry you had to go the ER yet again. UGH.

I'm with you on the very busy second week. I love three day weekends, but having Monday off means cramming two days (plus, it seems) into Tuesday. Yikes! Craziness abounds.

Be blessed!
love,
bunny

Ugh, you poor gal. And the whole no caffeine thing? That's just lame. :-( Ain't pregnancy fun?

Hope you are feeling better soon and can enjoy being pregnant. (if that is possible with #3)My baby #3 was a surprise (hubby and I had been talking about him getting a vasecomty!) and has turned out to be quite the little sunshine in our lives. Hope that Bee #3 is just as much as blessing to your family as Samuel turned out to be in ours.
