Politics... News... Spring Fever... Etc.

In politics...

Man, what a horrific turn of events in the Texas primary. Maybe if Rush wouldn't have sent all the Republicans into the snakepit (having them vote for Hillary), we would have had a win for Huckabee - he had just over 40% in Texas. I ended up voting Huck, Kev voted for Paul. Both of us are moving on as delegates for the GOP... but not sure how strong we can back McCain unless he gets some semblance of conservatism going on with his bad self. Kudos to Huck for a great goodbye-talk in Irving. He really impressed me. After seeing that video about the Canadian health care issues, it makes me wonder how there could be any Democrats at all in this country. Especially since we are already paying out the nose for taxes and the socialization of our medical system will only cause another tax increase. And this during a RECESSION. I don't know about you, but I can hardly afford my GAS. A tax increase will only worsen the economy. So will socialized healthcare. Why go to med school if you can make as much money in another easier field? Doctors will be making a mass exodus and taking their money with them. How is that good for America? While I don't call myself a Republican entirely, I am a conservative entirely. I may have to part ways with the GOP if they start falling off the fence on the left side. I am sad that Fred, Mike or Ron weren't the chosen leaders of the Reps... but I know God is in control. Maybe what this nation needs is a big fat spanking? Wouldn't be the first nation that got one...

In other news...

California made homeschooling illegal. Please pray for the families there that are affected by this Nazi law and help them with the legal battle if you are able. The HSLDA article about the ruling in California can get you up to speed.

I am hosting the 40th Homesteading Carnival next Monday, March 10th, 2008.
If you would like to submit a post, click over to the Blog Carnival Form and leave me one. If your post contains a photo, you can email me a copy of it and I might use it in the post. Be sure your email has "Homestead Carnival Photo" in the subject line.

Spring Fever...

This month's calendar is filling up at an alarming rate. Dentist Appointments, Lego Robotics, Volunteering, Contenders and Keepers of the Faith, School, Spring Break House Guests, Bible Class, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, Birthdays of friends and family, Art Class, Field Trips, Writing Deadlines, Park Days and more! Morgan asked me if she can sign up for something else last week and I nearly fell off my chair. Spring tends to bring with it a bustle and hustle - gearing us all up for the end of school-year crunch... testing, cramming the last of the curriculum in, fighting the urge to go outside and skip school in the sunshine, and lots of parties and events for the groups we attend. The time is now to focus on priorities! My article in this month's HOTM is about fighting off distractions. Now you know why I wrote it! For myself!

Next up...

The rest of the 2006-7 Homeschool Series is coming up next. You can also check my HOTM article out on the 8th of March, visit me at the HSBA, and drop in now and then for a good recipe at Gathering Manna. Until then, have a great week!

Have you checked to see if you are Libertarian? There is a very quick and easy political quiz here

Do you really think that the people voted for Clinton because Limbaugh said to? My husband mentioned it this morning, but I have more faith in conservatives than that. If people voted for Clinton, because an entertainer told them to, they will have to live with their conscience.

The political scene is just not very fun these days. Sigh.

I know what you mean about the articles you write - God makes you live it if you're going to share about it. That's why I'm writing about balance - cause I have none. LOL! He has a great sense of humor.

Wow! Your family is WAY busy. I can't even think "busy" today, I'm just slogging along for whatever reason. It's snowing here and it's beautiful, but I'm tired of being cold. Another day or two and it should be nice again.

Hope Kaden's back to normal and that you all stay well to get through your crazy busy month.

love & blessings,
dianne :-)

Jeanette... yeah, it is a sad day.

Superangel... glad the honey and cinnamon worked for you. Kaden is feeling better. Just some gunk in his throat still and no one else got sick. :) Thanks for stopping in to check on him. Tell Jocelyn I'm sorry for whining last night when she told me about the carnival! :(

Darla - I think I will take that quiz...

Renae... Yes, I really do think lots of Clinton supporters were incognito Republicans. The reason being - the radio people (at least here in Texas) were pushing them to vote for her over Obama. Everyone is scared of him and rightly so (since he really has no record at all and no experience... and he grew up in Jihadist Indonesia). I was listening to a talk show in the AM and they were taking calls from voters who had just cast their vote. One of them said, "I just held my nose and voted for Hillary". Another one said they voted for Obama (Republican) because they are freaked out by any Clinton getting in the Whitehouse again. The radio people were telling everyone that if they voted for Huck or Paul - they wasted their vote. People are sheep. Many of them, I am sure, were led astray (especially since the radio guys claim to be conservative).

Bunnyfoofoo - Yeah, I'm living in a whirlwind. I can't help but think that I would be delivering a baby, too, this month and can't even imagine the craziness if that had happened! Yeah, we are busy, but some of that stuff will have to fall by the wayside. I'm not able to be all places at once. I'm going to have to pick the most important stuff and be OK with it.

Thanks for the well wishes for Kaden. :) He's thrilled to be well again and if I could get him to keep chapstick on his mouth and finish his Math, today would be great! ;) LOL

I'm pretty discouraged about the choices for president so far. Praying hard about the outcome in November. Praying hard about the homeschooling development, too.

Great post. Love your blog. :-)

Christine - :) Thanks! I am pretty sure that McCain will be up against Hillary. I'm thinking he'll need to win just to save us from socialized medical insanity.

I took that political party quiz and fell squarely on the line between centrist and libertarian. I am NOT a moderate (fence rider), which seems to be a key element of centrist beliefs. I am also not for absolutely NO laws on certain issues (censorship of porn at the library is not such a bad thing, ya know?). However, I am for small government and accountable government... and for less pork (IRS included). I liked Huck's fair tax ideas. I do think that there are issues that need reforming:

TAX SYSTEM
SENTENCING FOR PRISONERS
SOCIAL SECURITY
to name a few...

And I am for strict enforcement of illegal immigrant laws. It is not as easy for the people up North to understand why it is necessary to get serious with fences and border patrol. They are not over 50% Spanish speaking up there yet. Do some research and look at Texas statistics. There are billboards in Spanish down here. You just wait... one day, up there in Yankeeland, our Union brothers will wish that someone had built a wall. Especially when the food starts getting spicier and spicier... LOL

What burns me is the fact that they get so much free aid from the government. Instead of doing away with social security, maybe we should quit shelling out free money to Mexicans here illegally? Hey! Maybe that 5 billion dollars last year we spent on them could get the Social Security program out of the red? Naw, that would make too much sense for someone in Washington to do something fiscally responsible. If it works, it won't happen in DC.

I can tell you as a Canadian that you DO NOT WANT OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM!

I have a good friend who has either gallbladder problems or Crohn's. She doesn't have a family doctor (shortages, you know). So she had to go to a clinic, wait for six hours, and get referrals for three different tests which were all three months in the future.

She had those tests two weeks ago. She has to go back to the clinic, wait in line for six hours, and get the results.

Except that the clinic can't find them.

The ultrasound clinic won't release her records to her. She needs a doctor.

She doesn't have one.

It just gets worse from there!

Go McCain!

I'm not exactly for any of the frontrunners right now, but we do need to be careful to be accurate when we criticize someone.

Obama did NOT "Grow up" in JIhadist Indonesia. He could not be president without being a natural-born American, remember.

He spent a few years there. He spent later years in Hawaii and graduated from the same exclusive (very Christian) private school that my aunt by marriage did.

Thanks, Heather. You received the brunt of my shock. You were right. I listened to a podcast of Hugh Hewitt today at work. He talked to the people who actually voted for Hillary to take down Obama. What happened to voting your conscious? Crazy!
